Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Many women experience abnormal bleeding at times. Any irregular bleeding that is heavy, prolonged or occurring after menopause should be evaluated. Persistent irregular bleeding should also be evaluated.
Dr. Dooley will ask about your health history and your menstrual cycle. It is helpful to keep track of your menstrual cycle before your visit. Note the dates, length, and type (light, medium, heavy, or spotting) of your bleeding on a calendar.
Frequently, the evaluation of the cause of abnormal bleeding will require an examination, some laboratory tests and a pelvic ultrasound. There are many options for treating irregular bleeding and these options will be discussed in detail once you have been evaluated.
