Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse is a group of conditions where a weakness like a hernia develops in the female genital tract. This includes variable amounts of descent of the uterus, vagina, bladder and/or rectum. Prolapse disorders are more common in women after having children and as we age. They can be associated with urine leakage or incontinence as well as other urinary symptoms such as frequent nighttime urination. Some women do not exhibit signs of urinary incontinence until the weakness has been corrected.
